IN SEARCH OF AUTONOMOUS REALITY
International Videoart Festival Now&After

Reality is an intuitively understood component of our life. It is a philosophical category, a scientific constant, and something that everyone can define in his own way. Reality refers to everything that arises in time and then disappears, and usually its existence does not need any proof.

Artists search of an autonomous reality, the one that is not controlled from the outside and develops according to its own laws, independent and self-sufficient, self-governing and detached. They have discovered it in the system of scientific approach to the development of knowledge of the world, and in the phantom field of illusions and words, in the digital world that tempts virtual reality, and in the hidden from extraneous universe of memory, in the illusory world of cinema and in the inner circle of family.

International Video Art Festival Now&After has been carried out in Moscow since 2011. Now&After focuses on presentation, development and promotion both Russian and international video art, getting together emerging and established artists from around the world to present their works to general audience. Traditionally the festival takes place at museum's space, where during few weeks the festival program is being demonstrated as a multi-channel video installation. Now&After was held at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, at the State Museum of Gulag History and at the Schusev State Museum of Architecture, at the State Darwin Museum, at CCI Fabrika, Artplay Center. The festival is organized by non-profit organization Media Art Centre Now&After and collaborates with cultural organizations in Russia and abroad presenting its collections nationally and internationally. Founding director/curator of International Video Art Festival Now&After is Marina Fomenko.
