Project: A study on vulnerability

This video explores the subject of vulnerability and transparency by way of speech impediments (stuttering) and the mechanics of speech - breath, muscle tension, rhythm, effort. It is an investigation of what happens in the head and body when speech is no longer natural. Driven by self-reflection through personal experience and physical/emotional states, my intention is for the work to transcend the personal into the universal search for vulnerability. This project is part of a multi-layered, performance-based study on vulnerability.

Project: LES YEUX DANS LES YEUX

The video presents a series of self-portraits. The artist places objects over her eyes to thwart the viewer's gaze. Hiding her eyes and replacing them with objects are performative gestures that continue the poetic and playful approach last seen in duPont's video Visages.

Project: Yellow Tea Cup. Refugees at sea

Yellow tea cup: refugees at sea records contemporary news footage projected into my immigrant grandmother's vintage tea cup. The cup becomes a window onto the world, bringing world events closer to home, while evoking the tensions and intersections between private and public, past and present, order and chaos. The contextualizing frame of the tea cup acknowledges the filter of individual experience through which our perceptions are shaped, as we try to comprehend the human dimension of reported events.

Project: Isle-Aux-Coudres

In the video Isle-aux-Coudres, the artist refreshes family film archives by in situ projections. A young girl runs and invites us to play with her.

Project: Amok

I came down to the pond, hoping to come across my reflection. The water was cold. Disembodied faces approached. They communicated in silence. Only they know that the memory of yesterday is the reflection of a former day, while they plot and prepare, from birth to death, they envisage. They laugh at our tears and invent a world without human beings. Sitting on the spine of the cosmos, they ensure they are AMOK.

Project: Burned Land / Tierra Quemada

Cerro Mariposa - Valparaiso -The remaining houses were these ones, not up there, but here. They looked nice, yes, but after the fire started all the rabbits that lived here perished. The fire was very high. It was as if the world was going to end.- The Chilean police claim that it was because of two birds. At 4pm on Saturday April 12, two birds fell on a power line crossing El Peral, on the outskirts of Valpariason. The wind was very strong and shook the cables. The birds were electrocuted. Sparks fell and ignited the pastures. The fire had begun. The south wind pushed the fire and the earth was burned.
