María Castellanos Vicente and Alberto Valverde García La

is a Processing application creates glitchy images. GlitchSort's signal
processing tools can transcode images into glitchy audio for real time
performance. It has found an audience among glitch artists and includes
a user manual. Code for Processing 2.0 and binaries are available at
http://paulhertz.net/factory/2012/08/glitchsort2/. I have used
GlitchSort primarily to produce digital prints: the images included are

Or Zubalsky Brooklyn, NY. USA http://orzubalsky.com http://github.com/orzubalsky Project: Sun Powered Musical Instruments Sun Powered Musical Instruments offers a poetic exploration of the assumptions underlying technology's harness on nature. The project is comprised of a series of BEAM robots, constructed as a combination of freeform soldering and "dead" elements from nature. The musical instruments are essentially robots that run on a solar engine circuit, with different combinations of resistors, capacitors and motors. The motor activates sound-making elements, causing dry leaves to flap against each other, or dry grass to shake. As a result, each instrument creates different rhythms, depending on how much sunlight it is exposed to. The sounds are created as an attempt to recreate natural sounds. They end up sounding mechanical and repetitive, with the only variation coming from the changing sunlight. tag: robotic |
