Antonella Zito Francavilla Fontana. Italy http://www.youtube.com/user/PitturaSpirale Project: Desiderio represso da una società liquida The
liquid society is a society in which there are no fixed points, where
everything changes quickly. There aren't solid bases and therefore it
tends to change drastically after a little time by failing to absorb
ideals and a mind-compact.
It has
no shape, it adapts and pleases itself... it is accommodating. The
company is the liquid mass production that overwhelms everything which
is different, excellent, individual, qualified and select. Who doesn't
like "all", who doesn't think like "everyone" runs the risk of being
marginalized. The society stifles the thoughts of the "different", who
wants to distinguish itself from the crowd and wants to bring out the
"own-self" with strength and determination. The "different" challenges
society, his ignorance believing in his inner structure, but emerging
defeated because the man in his own fragility perceives his limits. So
we are faced with two realities: the ignorance of society as opposed to
a single entity.
The
feeling of being chained in our own life and body, removed from the
conventions, the desire to escape to a longed-for freedom, but then
forced to remain in chains because misunderstood. The hypocrisy of
society, which is pretending to have compassion, to help others, but
knowing already to come out as a winner, realizing that fate would have
given its reasons.

Francesca Leoni and Davide Mastrangelo Con.Tatto Video Performance Art Italy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIopQXejV58 Project: Person-A In Latin the word °Persona° represents the actors mask and the character the he interprets. This work is about the mask that each on of us wears in life in order to relate to others. Its about searching the truth in the other person. The only way to find that truth is to go over the mask. The act of pealing the mask off is a symbolic performance executed by the artistic group Con.Tatto (Leoni & Mastrangelo) in the search of the others true self tag: videoart |

Daria Baiocchi and Libera Mazzoleni Milano. Italy http://vimeo.com/58901936 Produced company: Libera Mazzoleni/Daria Baiocchi Distribution company: Daria Baiocchi Project: CANTVS III
CANTVSIII grows as music video-art
for the piece “Ombre [Shadows]” for piano, recitant voice and
electronics written by Daria Baiocchi. Libera Mazzoleni, Italian
artist, sign the direction of the video. The Milan subway and The Divine Comedy written by the italian poet
Dante Alighieri [XIV cent.] are the Leitmotiv of the whole composition
used as a sort of thematic mind-trip. In particular the “Hell-3th
chant” is cited, with Charon, the ferryman of Hades who carries souls
of the newly deceased across the rivers Styx and Acheron. tag: videoart |

Project: Phase Shift Video The videos in this series were inspired by the early phase shift music of Steve Reich. In Reich’s early compositions he played simple repeated motifs that slowly went out of phase with one another. The musical interest came from playing off the predictability of the motif, against the unusual sonic textures created over time. My first video (One Again) was created analogously setting two colors (a disk inside of a square), each of which cycles through all the colors in the spectrum, against each other as they slowly go out of phase. They come back into phase after roughly 15 minutes at which point the piece will seamlessly loop. Although in other pieces from this series, the shapes, arrangements of shapes, and color patterns become more complex, at the basic level the generative system remains the same. Like many time based experiences each one of these pieces tells a different “story.” One can achieve a wide range of visual and temporal possibilities within this seemingly restricted process. These pieces can be experienced on different levels. They are visually quite beautiful, and set up an ever changing pattern of interesting color relationships. They create unusual optical effects –for example, the shapes sometimes appear to change size, or even move– when in reality nothing except color is ever altered. Additionally, like abstract art in general, their interpretation is open to the viewer’s discretion. And finally, for many they create an absorbing meditative experience. Because they are always projected larger than human scale, the experience becomes physiological and interactive. Some viewers will use their cast shadow to “play” with the videos; others sit quietly, their breathing coming into sync with the visual oscillations. tag: videoart |

Diego Ramirez Melbourne. Australia www.diego-ramirez.net Project: Heart shaped Bruises Heart Shaped Bruises is a performance based video summoning an abstract scene of domestic violence as an allegory to explore gender roles. Accentuating plasticity and artifice, the artist performs a couple made of two pervasive gender stereotypes, the “Femme Fatale” and “The Jock”. Clearly, the “couple” is not a real couple, but the artist violently lip-synching, dressing and cross-dressing. The characters have a dramaturgic edge, but are by no means unrealistic. Hearth Shaped Bruises seeks to question the way in which we perform gender stereotypes and the social harm that they produce, as well as bringing attention to their absurdity. tag: videoart |

Monica Elkelv & Ioanna Theodorakou London. UK http://vimeo.com/33444486 Project: Hypnic Jerk This
film explores the possibilities of body and mind separation in a state
that is often recognized as an ‘out of body experience’. ‘Hypnic jerk’
resembles the feeling of the "jump" experienced by a person when
shocked, often accompanied by a falling sensation which occurs during
hypnagogic, just as a person is beginning to fall asleep, often causing
sudden awake. The filmmakers attempted to represent this moment that
the hypnic jerk occurs in a voyage of the mind through time and space.

Jeremy Newman Project: Living Things "Living Things" critiques the depiction of gender and science in Cold War era B-movies. In these films, women are victimized as science goes horribly awry. Yet, representational violence is veiled by absurdity. This experimental video highlights the cultural anxieties, shifting gender roles and scientific progress, which fostered these representations. tag: videoart |

Miguel Parra Urrutia
Paris.
