POOL: COMINGS & GOING [Piscina: idas y venidas] 1:38 minutes Alette Simmons-Jimenez Alette Simmons-Jimenez, a multidisciplinary artist, draws inspiration from visual and performative patterns in nature, society, and our built environment. It focuses on the segment from youth to adolescence and beyond, when children begin to form their own sexual identities and seek to break away from the ties that bind them. Fluid imagery of a pubescent girl swimming in a deep blue pool coupled with soft sounds of gurgling water and a ticking clock eerily represents innocence soon to be lost in the inevitable flight from the nest/womb. The piece is inspired by a song of long lost love, "Te QuieroDijiste" written by Maria Grever. |

VIAJE DE VUELTA Patricio Ballesteros Ledesma In the picture, a sequence shot in a taxi in the city seaside Mar del Plata at dawn. In the life, a time in whic for the age and experiences tell us that someone is back. Perhaps. FIGHT VIDEO_ART FREE Eduardo Romaguera Tijerytor en el DF " Fight video- -Art free": TIJERYTHOR IN DF" (Tijerythor is a masked wrestler facing the mass media, with their scissors deconstructing messages with them and creating new meanings in the audiovisual piece, the video artist interacts with.. environment and ends up being challenged by the eye of the public participating in expontanea form of the work). I was engaged in the idea of a romantic date as a talk on prejudices. A date is perhaps the only situation in which people evaluate the possibility of letting a foreigner into their closest circle. Probably there is not another moment when we are so jealous of a choice. That is where the strongest prejudices are articulated. A date is an evaluation, an interrogation, disguised as an unexpected opportunity for excitement. It is a kind of pleasant perversion. Possibly that way of thinking leads me to believe that physical distance is minimised by knowledge. I thought I was moving forward to a different thing, but now I realise that it was never a diversion. It was a necessary moment in the search of my own language, a thought still present in my work. |
