Cristina Pavesi Milán. Italy http://www.cristinapavesi.com/ https://vimeo.com/cristinapavesi Project: Domino (black) The pawns in the game of dominoes are the object of a black still life. Black on black, pawns come to life trying obsessively to establish anorder while defying the laws of fortuity and instability as a metaphor of life. Revisiting the classic genre of still life, inspired by Flemish painting and by Caravaggio's paintings, shapes and light and shade are intensified by the light contrasting with the black background. Whereas in paintings subjects are in complete stillness, in videos the fourth dimension, time, can be found which gives further metaphorical depth to the image. tag: videoart |

Francesca Fini Roma. Italy http://www.francescafini.com/ https://vimeo.com/francescafini70 Project: A love letter :WITH AN HELMET - a love letter (2013) written, directed and performed by Francesca Fini music box sound art by wutzl, klankbeeld (freesound.org) WHIN AN HELMET - a love letter From the microcosm of those objects and foods that are found in all Italian kitchens, which are a counterpoint to our everyday life and what really characterize us as a people, starts a reflection on the macrocosm of the ideals upon which our lives should be set . The four articles of the Italian Constitution that I consider most important are rebuilt with the gestures of everyday life, in an ironic allusion to the implicit daily betrayal of these values that happens elsewhere and away from us. The letters of the alphabet made with macaroni, that an invisible hand devour greedily, mark the words of the Constitution recited in slow and alienating litany : " Italy is a democratic republic founded on work, sovereignty belongs to the people . " The sovereign people is in fact a brain of spaghetti served under a yellow plastic helmet. "The Republic promotes culture and protects the landscape " and the table becomes a landfill where the heads of the Riace bronzes fly as black bags of trash, exhumed from the sea floor to finish in the basement of a museum, while a gloved hand shakes hysterically a glass full of coins. " Italy repudiates war ", and so an F35 becomes the tray that brings to the table another pasta dish, while Chinese chopsticks begin to replace traditional forks. A bowl with water and oil lit by a candle, over the famous photo of the discovery of the corpse of Aldo Moro, ironically symbolizes the grotesque mysteries that plague this country, the esotericism "for dummies" of the Italian Masonic lodge mixed with a stuffy and gullible culture. The country of those who are always expendable and of those who are always untouchable. And so a glass of wine is spilled on the table and becomes the stain of blood of Federico Aldrovandi. And the flag, that an article of the Constitution describes in detail, is made to fly away in a powerfully physical impulse that comes from the heart. An anger that is unleashed and is extinguished in a moment, as the indignation and disgust of the beautiful souls of our country. And this is Italy, in my letter of hate and love. tag: videoart |

Isabelle Hayeur Rawdon. Canada https://vimeo.com/35818177 Distribution: VTape, Groupe intervention video Project: Castaway "Castaway" was filmed in the murky waters of Witte’s Marine Salvage at Staten Island (New York). The largest boat cemetery on the Eastern Seaboard, this uncanny, desolate place is the final resting place of numerous wrecks of all varieties and several eras : ferries, barges, fishing boats, even old steam tugs. Their hulks slowly rot away in the mud of Arthur Kill, a refinery-lined inlet still busy with tankers. Located near New Jersey’s Chemical Coast and the former Fresh Kills landfill, these now toxic shores, originally home to salt marshes, forests and freshwater wetlands, have seen their share of ecological disasters. This behind-the-scenes look at industrial development, revealing its hidden side : its dark underbelly, may offer a glimpse of an unsustainable capitalist economy’s eventual shipwreck. tag: videoart |

The Distance is an experimental work that challenges the viewer to play
with his own impulses, placing it in a cold, impersonal atmosphere, at
the mercy of mechanical lights and sounds that blend into an artificial
world. It is a collaborative work with the Japanese sound artist,

Laura Hyunjhee Kim 'BE MY CLONE' is a continuation of Laura Hyunjhee Kim's exploration in the various modes of communication. Presented in the formats of a music video, she appropriates the tropes of popular culture – the abstraction of words and imagery through repetition. The piece in particular realizes the contemporary obsession over storing data and retaining memory. Transferred through USB flash drives and cloud devices, the desire to share a moment through replicating data often overrides truly enjoying the experience itself and preserving authenticity.
